Bad Brake Pads? Don't Ignore Them! Safe & Affordable Brake Repair Near You
Your car’s brakes are vital for your safety, and brake pads are the parts that do the heavy lifting of slowing and stopping your vehicle. Over time, they wear down and need replacement. Staying aware of the warning signs of bad brake pads can help you avoid accidents and costly repairs down the road.
Warning Signs That Your Brake Pads Need Attention
Don’t ignore these common symptoms of faulty brakes:
- Grinding or Squealing Noises: These harsh sounds mean your brake pads are worn down to the metal backing. This is an urgent signal to seek brake repair in Brooklyn.
- Visible Wear: Check your brake pads periodically through the spokes of your wheels. If the friction material is less than a quarter-inch thick, it’s time for replacement.
- Vibrations or Pulsations: Shaking in the steering wheel or a pulsating brake pedal usually indicate warped rotors, but could also mean worn brake pads. This calls for immediate diagnosis.
- Brake Pedal Issues: A brake pedal that feels overly soft, sinks to the floor, or requires too much force to work properly often signals damaged brake pads or other brake system problems.
- Pulling to One Side: If your car drifts to the side when you brake, you may have uneven pad wear, a contaminated pad, or a stuck caliper. A qualified mechanic can pinpoint the cause.
- Burning Smell: An acrid burning odor while driving may be caused by overheated brake pads. Pull over safely and have your brakes checked.
- Low Brake Fluid: Due to worn pads, the brake fluid in your reservoir may drop. While topping it off isn’t a repair, it does point to needing your brakes checked.
- Warning Lights: Modern cars have brake pad wear sensors. Don’t ignore a dashboard warning light indicating brake issues.

FAQs About Bad Brake Pads
Q: How often do I need new brake pads? A: Most brake pads last between 30,000 to 70,000 miles, but this varies depending on how you drive, your car’s make and model, and the brake pad material.
Q: What else might be wrong when my brakes are acting up? A: Brake problems go beyond just worn pads. Worn rotors, faulty calipers, or issues with the brake lines can also cause the symptoms mentioned above. That’s why proper diagnosis from a mechanic is crucial.

Ali took care of everything and fixed the issue for less than half of what the dealer quoted. The work was done professionally, quickly, and with great attention to detail.
He’s amazing at what he does, his prices are more than fair, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his customers.
If you have a BMW (or any car), don’t waste your time at the dealer go see Ali. Highly recommend!

After that experience, I was hesitant to trust another shop until I found A&A Auto Repair which was recommended by my friend. From the moment I walked in, Ali was polite, honest, humble, and respectful. He thoroughly explained what needed to be fixed now and what could wait. I needed brakes, a motor blower replacement, an oil and filter change, and two new tires—and the price he quoted was less than a quarter of what the dealer charged me for far less work.
As a single parent, that honesty and fairness meant everything to me. For the first time, I didn’t feel like I was taken advantage of or or regretful that I did not bring a man w/ me. I felt his hospitality and genuinely respected. He followed up w/ me the very next day to see how the car was working and to reminded me of our next appointment to finish everything off. Ali has earned my trust and will absolutely be my mechanic moving forward 😉 Thank you, Ali. More then you know!!!
See you soon

UPDATE!!!
Once again, Ali and his team are very great mechanic. Our car dodge durango had engine/emission leak problem so as soon as my husband found out my husband went back to Ali yesterday (09/19/25) to fix the new problem of our vehicle. Ali called the parts/supplier right away and was told to come back today 09/20/25. At the same day Ali was able to fix our vehicle right away. Ali and Team I will come back without question if the need ever arises. Thank you for your hard work and generosity. I want to thank you for doing an excellent job repairing my vehicle in a reasonable amount of time, and also for your great service in helping with my situation. Kudos to you and God bless you all. ❤️

I was in a little bit of a hurry to get my car repaired before a state inspection. Ali told me to bring my car to his shop and he'd take care of it. He told me up front what cost, time and labor would be. Afterwards he checked my entire car and advised what needed additional repairs. He's honest, reliable and so nice to deal with. I'd definitely commend him to friends and family...

I came from Staten Island to Sunset Part for a brake replacement and oil change, and let me tell you, it was worth it.
Ali is friendly and knowledgeable, and he got the job done quickly without cutting corners.

Reasonable prices and honest work! Couldn’t ask for better service!
